What does it cost me to start?
We have a $75.00 start-up fee and low monthly fees. We have no annual renewal fee and no minimum booking requirements
What is my commission split?
Depending on the gross annual commissions received on business booked by you, you can receive up a commission split of 85%
When and how will I be paid?
You will be paid once a month. You can be paid by direct deposit or by check. With each payment you will receive a statement providing a detailed accounting of the commissions received on bookings made by you.
Whose ARC number will I use?
You will use Millstream Travel’s ARC number
What should I do with my ARC number?
If you currently have an ARC number you may want to consider voluntarily surrendering it or put it on hold for 120 days while you evaluate the benefits of working with MTI Agents.
Can I employ other agents to work with me?
You may employ as many sub-agents as you wish. Your sub-agents must use your agent ID when booking reservations. It will be your responsibility to make the appropriate payments to your sub-agents in accordance with whatever agreement you have with them. Sub-agents are not covered by MTI Agents Errors & Omissions insurance policy.
Do you charge service fees?
Yes, service fees are charged for a variety of services provided. A copy of MTI Agents Service Fee schedule will be made available to you prior becoming an Independent Contractor of MTI Agents.
Can I book airline tickets for my corporate account?
Yes, using one of MTI Agents GDS systems you will have the ability of issuing tickets for your corporate accounts.
How will I receive supplier confirmations?
All confirmations will be forwarded to you as they are received from the supplier.
How long has your company been in business?
Millstream Travel has been in business since 1988 and has been acting as a host agency since 1999.
Will I require Errors & Omissions insurance?
No, you will be covered by Millstream Travel’s Errors & Omissions insurance policy on all bookings that are made using Millstream Travel’s agency identification numbers. Sub-agents are not covered by Millstream Travel’s Errors & Omission policy.
Will I need to be bonded as a travel agent?
No, as long as you are booking under Millstream Travel’s agency identification numbers there is no need for you to be bonded.
How will you support me?
Our experienced agents are available to answer your questions Monday thru Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm ET.
Can you service my while I am on vacation?
Yes, simply advise your clients to contact us by phone or email, or have your phones forwarded to us. Please make certain you advise us when you will be gone and when you will be returning. Any new bookings that have to be made by one of our agents during your absence you will receive only 50% of the commissions received.
How long does it take to get set-up and started?
Typically we can have you up and running within a day. For those requiring a GDS system, they must first complete a background check which normally takes from 5-7 days.
How can I transfer my current bookings to you?
Each supplier has a different procedure and you will need to contact each of them for details. Generally, the supplier requires a letter from the agency that the booking ws originally made through authorizing the transfer to Millstream Travel and a letter from us accepting the booking.
Do you offer IATAN and CLIA travel agent ID cards?
We offer IATAN cards to qualifying agents whose gross commission income during the last twelve months is a minimum of $5,000.
Do you offer ongoing training programs?
Yes, our ‘Agent Only’ website is filled with training programs, tutorials, user guides, etc. In addition, many of our preferred suppliers offer online training programs designed specifically for MTI Agents Independent Contractors.
How will I be kept abreast of what is going on in the travel industry?
Our preferred suppliers update us daily with the latest industry news, supplier specials, travel alerts, etc. We pass along to you pertinent information as we receive it.
